As in any period of time on earth, wars do end. However, in today's period of time, the question should be, will terrorism ever end? Probably not. Answering the question of whether or not the insurgency in Iraq will ever end, the answer has to be yes. Why? Most likely, at some time in the future, hopefully more nearer than far, the Americans and the coalition forces will leave Iraq and hand it over to a United Nations force of some kind and some strength. This will be necessary, should the Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Army and police forces have a problem handling any left over insurgency problems.

The insurgency in Iraq is due in large part to Iran sending in the insurgents which had been confirmed for some time now. This is due in large part with the capture and the killing of insurgents and identifying them as Iranians. When the Americans and its partners leave Iraq, there should be no reason to continue to send in insurgents, because there will be no one to kill. This has to be the case, unless of course a war breaks out again between Iran and Iraq which at this time is highly unlikely. However, the so-called insurgents may go after other targets in other parts of the world should they be given the necessary financing to continue their attacks.

Since the election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States, the Iranians are declaring that they will no longer be supporting operations in Iraq. They stated that there will be no more insurgency or anything that resembles it. This is an interesting statement considering the fact that President Achmidenijad has been at a war of words with the West, particularly, the United States and Israel. This could mean that the Iranians are refocusing their efforts to its nuclear program so that they can operate on a larger scale and strike at larger and more complex targets like Israel, the United States and other targets.

Due to the surge of troops a couple of years ago, the insurgency found that they were going to have a problem continuing their operations. However, a good question to ask might be the following: Does insurgency mean the same as terrorism? Since the insurgents seem to strike at roadblocks and planting road side bombs which are striking mainly at military convoys, this is called an insurgency. Those who plant bombs or strike at targets in Baghdad and kill civilians, this could be called terrorism. Yet, it is possible that insurgency and terrorism are one in the same. It depends upon how we look at it.

The insurgency will end only when the United States and the rest of the coalition forces pull out. It would really be a waste of the enemies efforts to go after targets in Iraq when all it would be doing is killing one another and this might turn out to be called a civil war like what happened in Lebanon for many years.
