Addicted to the Internet

Virtualization

Recently I changed my job, and started to have more free time that I primarily spend on the internet, I started my own blog, and now I'm writing my second article on Helium, and even started to look for a blogging job.

I'm getting completely sucked up by the internet, suddenly the joy of writing, the pleasure of discovering your own insights into life by looking at what you write is fascinating! You become like two persons, one is typing and the other is reading, and the reader is fascinated by what the writer is writing.

The weird thing is that all of this is taking you away from life, and into a parallel dimension of virtual life, you start to get your identity in the virtual world, you start to gain your reputation there, and build relationships and careers, you dive into this world, and the real world becomes gradually less interesting to you. Yes you share your insights of the real world with the virtual world, but it's just like you are looking at an aquarium or something, you don't get involved in life, you want to live completely digital, I'll give you a strange example :

Sometimes when I'm surfing the internet lying in my bed, with my laptop on my laps, I move or sit up and the monitor becomes too tilt for me, and I want to adjust it, I catch myself moving the mouse to the top of the screen to "pull the monitor" ! I know this is funny but it happens, for a moment while I'm moving I suddenly move the mouse, then I realize that the monitor actually exists in the real world, and that I have to "physically" move it, not virtually, and I caught myself even feeling sorry that I can't do that!

It's really virtualization era, everything is going digital, on the net you can become a multi billionaire, or lose everything you earned in life, you can fall in love, or adopt a son, or change your religion, find God, or lose it, you can change your life, and you can change the world, sitting in front of your computer.

Some people think of the internet as if the world is coming so close to you, that you can access it whenever you want, and then get back to life again, and that's true, to a certain level, but once you get into this "magic hole", it sucks you up completely, you become addicted, you love the power that you have when you are "virtual", you love the ease it brings to your life so much that the real life becomes very difficult, it's too "physical", it's to primitive, there you live in a society that is a collection of all moods and choices, on
