Michaels Trip

Preface

Falone is completely different than Earth. For one thing, it is a star not a planet. For another, the people there do not take a solid form. They do not have eyes, ears, nose, or a mouth as we know it. Oh they do have vision, speech and expression, but not like ours. They are composed entirely of energy, a very special and unique form of energy. They are not liquid, gas, or solid, but plasmic. For this reason, it is difficult to describe their true appearance. I will use references to faces and expressions, but this is only in order to tell a story and should not be interpreted to mean that the faces and expressions are literal. Just assume that I mean the Falonian equivalent.

The decision to visit Falone was a simple one. Since Michael met his father, they had been spending a lot of time together and he was becoming more and more curios about his heritage. Being half Falonian and half human, Michaels DNA was at odds. He had always felt as though he didn't fit in on Earth, but then doesn't everyone feel that way sometimes? After some rather embarrassing attempts at morphing, one day it just came to him. "It's just like learning to drive stick, all of a sudden, you get it," he thought as his body began to liquefy.

A few days later, Michael and his Dad were off to Falone. It was a several weeks trip and they spent the time talking about Falone and how to understand the language and body gestures. Michael was working on his morphing technique in order to get it perfect. At last they were preparing for their final approach to the planet. Falone is a super giant star. It is so hot that it is blue. Made entirely of energy, it is high intensity. The people of Falone are also made of energy, bright blue and hot. Michael was the only one who was not blue. His natural state was the color of molten silver in its purest, cleanest form. Michael and his father just assumed it was because he was half Falonian and half human. Being made of energy negates the need for protection from the heat. Every Falonian can control their body temperature. This is helpful when meeting dignitaries of other planets. Burning hands and things is not the best way to make friends.

Michael was so engrossed in thought that he did not even hear his father asking him why he was so quiet. Kalred spoke louder "we will be there in a few minutes. Look at the screen." Michael's father pointed to the display screen on the dash. Michael looked and could see Falone in the distance. It
