Ode to a Co-Worker on her 60th Birthday
This is a poem I wrote to my supervisor on her 60th birthday. I am a medical transcriptionist and the names mentioned below are nicknames we have for different doctors. Only the people in my department truly understand the meaning of this poem; however, I am submitting it for content purposes as I think it is a great poem. I hope you enjoy reading it and will rate it accordingly.
Seven years ago we met when you gave me my start in this field; Your training gave me knowledge, and we both decided this was God's will.
In those early years I learned much from you while you made sure our reports were the best; While you trained me and kept us on top of our game, I watched you go through hormonal distress!
Our company grew and so did the work, which became more than just you and I could handle; The Bram Stoker's, the Mush Mouth's, and Iacocca's never stopped coming; and of course we continued to listen to Big Hair ramble!
Well It's 3:30 and your day is done - oops guess who's calling and needs you to "stick around"? It's Tom and it'll only take a minute - he's so sorry he forgot to mention; so you stayed as long as you were needed and you did as he asked, of course, because of your position!
You took it all in stride and kept right on a-Rollin'; While the psychotic transcriptionists kept a-comin' and a-goin'!
Your department expanded tremendously and your management skills increased through trial and error, And now it tickles me so that after all these years that your new motto is "I Don't Care-A!"
Your department continues to grow and grow and we've seen transcriptionists come and go, but one thing I can say is true; Today is a very special birthday, and girlfriend, sixty sho' looks good on you!
