Once I walked the sands of a beautiful beach
just breathing , singing
beneath my breath
the Lords Prayer to the rythmn
of the waves and the whistling wind
singing it with eyes unseeing
with black and heavy head unheeding
through curving waves
across wet sand like velvet underfoot,
singing it with a dry and withered heart
a stunned and shivering soul
huddled deep inside myself
until the words and the music and the world
God made for me bought me back,
as it always has.

It hurts
