How to plan a memorable Christmas party

with the volume low so guest could here the music but it didn't drown out conversation. After dinner we switched to dance music and the DJ did a wonderful job of keeping an eye on the crowd. If he played a type of music that not much of anyone danced to the DJ didn't play that type again or waited a good time before playing it again.

For decorations we kept it inexpensive with balloons blown up the night before hanging from the walls and ceiling. We spent the most of the decorating expense on the tables down low where they would be noticed most by the guests. Each table was covered with white table covering and then confetti sprinkled along the centers of the 10 foot tables. Clear glass candle holders for votive candles where purchased at the dollar store then hand painted by myself weeks before the party. Those were then placed in fir wreaths and used as center pieces on each table.

While decorating, I also had someone tape a star under one chair at each of the tables. After dinner I had the DJ announce that everyone was supposed to stand up and look at the bottom of their chair to see if there was something there. He did it really cute, "Ok, Faith told me to tell everyone to stand up and look at the bottom of your chair. I don't know what she's up to but I'm going to do what ever she tells me to do." Everyone laughed at that and I then announced that those who found a star got to take home the center piece off their table at the end of the night.

As the guests started to leave I can't tell you how many people I had come up to me and tell me that was the best Christmas party the company had ever had and they wished we were going to have another so I could plan it. What made it a memorable Christmas party? Detail! Paying attention to little things as well as the big ones will help the party move well. Food, entertainment, and keeping an eye on your guests paying attention to what they are enjoying or not enjoying will make your party memorable too.
