Ella walked through the main hallway of her new high school. It was the first day of her second week there, and getting used to the school was not getting easier. She made a few friends, and her lessons were easy enough for her to follow, but her terrible sense of direction kept her lost constantly. Her main hope had been to follow anyone who took the same subjects as her. However, she was confident that a couple of weeks more in this maze of a school would make her adept enough to navigate her way to her classes.
She walked towards her locker, and was surprised to find her new friend, Ryan Dobson standing in front of it. He smiled when he saw her approaching. "Good morning," he said. "I thought you might need some help in getting to Chemistry."
Ella was grateful. She couldn't remember which wing the laboratories were in. "Thank you," she replied, unlocking her locker. She placed a few books inside, and kept just the one she needed. Ryan stayed with her, and was in the middle of telling her about a new band when Headmaster Reynolds stopped by her locker.

Headmaster Reynolds chuckled. "To everyone here, you're the one with the accent, Miss Halliwell, but don't worry. I'm sure you will do well here." He paused. "Anyway, I wanted to inform you. Here at Star Hill, we maintain a very high standard academically and in extra-curricular activities. I'm not sure if Mr Dobson here told you, but you are required to participate."
Ella's heart sank. Extra-curricular activities? As far as she knew, she didn't have many talents. In her old school at Prestwich Hills, she was a cheerleader. That was all she did.
Headmaster Reynolds handed her a list. "Here's what you can choose from. You need one at least, but of course, you are welcome to join as many as you want so long your grades are fine." He left after wishing her good luck.
Ella quickly scanned the list with Ryan looking over her shoulder. Chess. No. Scrabble. No. Badminton. No. Football. No. She sighed, but then caught sight of cheerleading' right at the bottom of the list. If Ella had a choice, she'd rather not participate in anything, but the Headmaster himself
