Poetry: Darkness

USELESS

It's useless to hope.
Every time you do, your hope is dashed.
You end up living on loneliness
And memories of the past.

It's useless to have dreams.
Every time you do, they only unravel
And fall apart at the seams.

It seems useless to even try
When your chance for love has died
And all your broken Spirit can do is cry.

It's useless to keep breathing
And keep living in an empty shell.
Wishing for peace that does not come
To make your Spirit well.

It's useless to fight the pain
And try to endure...
When all you get is a temporary cure.

It's useless to seek happiness
When you cannot give praise,
Because sorrow and grief
Keep your mind half-crazed.

It's just useless
To even attempt to function.
When you walk in a constant, pain-filled daze.
Oh Lord, these tired eyes have seen far better days!
