Video game degrees: Will they actually help you get ahead in the games industry?

some sort of interesting storyline. To have the storyline, you need a team of writers. At times, there could be only one or two writers who are in charge of writing the entire game script. From what I have seen, it is more tedious than writing a screenplay.
Video game degrees do not teach you those skills.

For motion sequences, you need performers. Performers are needed to do the body motions such as the actual acting, dancing, and fighting.

They do not have that in a video game degree. Choreographers are needed to guide their movements. Directors are needed to direct everything. You will not learn those skills in a video game degree. You need to have actual experience in directing, choreography, and everything else.

There is the need for voice talent. You will not learn that with a video game degree. If you want to do voice work, you have to familiarize yourself with the world of voice acting.

There are many elements to video game creation that are similar to producing a movie or an on-stage theatrical production. With all of that said, you will not get very far with a "video game degree." Video game degrees are only a waste of time and money. Think about what aspects of video games you like and focus on those areas. Remember, you can get into video games and not necessarily take a major that has anything to do with them.
