How to make money from home without a computer:

Sometimes you wonder how you can ever make a living working from home without a computer. Well it isn't impossible and the human race has been doing it for some thousands of years. Computers are a recent invention, and more then once it has proved to be nothing but a "typewriter with an attitude."

The author has worked from home for the past 40 years without having a computer to aid in his work before 1994. He ran several businesses from home that would have been made easier by a computer but it just wasn't available. These businesses were:

A bait and tackle business that was operated from a wagon shed that was built on the side of an old barn. That was modified for use as a store. The bait and tackle business stocked a line of fishing tackle and lures. It also stocked a complete supply of live bait consisting of four different sizes of minnows, three sizes of worms, three different types of grubs and three sizes of crayfish. All of this bait was purchased from a wholesale bait dealer. In order to do this however you have to be located nearby to some place where people go fishing. A bait and tackle shop with the proper location, and location is everything is a license to steal legally.
In conjunction with the bait business the author also operated a garden center specializing in nursery flats of fruit and vegetable plants along with the necessary tools and equipment to maintain gardens for these plants.
At certain times of the year we also operated a business selling fruits and vegetables that we raised in our own gardens or orchards.
We also operated a wholesale and retail coal business. We picked up the coal wholesale at the breaker in Pennsylvania and made deliveries locally, and throughout the Northeast. This whole business also operated from our home.
The author also operated an aerial photography business that covered a wide area roughly from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Greenville, South Carolina said he still operates from home.
He also conducted an environmental consulting firm specializing in site assessments and remediation projects from home.

This was based on the idea that more then one money stream was necessary to survive. These businesses were seasonal and arranged so that they rarely overlapped. It is a full table but by segregating them we were able to keep things straight. All of these businesses either were run from the kitchen table or from a spare bedroom.

This goes to show that you can run a home business without a computer!
