Letters To Jeremy
Wrapped up in bind, concealed in books,
Words of language no one could understand , because they are mine, only mine,
and only that in you
which is me
can hear what I am saying, can comprehend my words
they are the words I always needed to hear
Dreaded to hear
Was so frightened I would someday listen to them uttered from his lips,
or mine
So I wrote them and they are pain in language; they are my soul exposed
they are anger burnt into paper; they are
love explained and they are
so much to me
They are my letters to Jeremy.
I keep all the pages hidden in the dark
I don't look at them don't want to remember
the cracks in my soul where the light poured out
For a fleeting moment
Before I made a salve out of idiom and phrase
Philosophy and lonely days; the recipe for awakening
The recipe for preservation of self
Words, upon pages, writings that represent it all
Prose built of heartache, to bid it all goodbye, to rid it from my soul
Verse upon verse that tear at the mind,
They are every unfiltered thought; every rhapsody of emotion;
every empty space in time
They are every silence in the dark that should have been filled with
words
They are my letters to Jeremy.
A shattered heart beckons words to appear
In shape or form of any
Given language or medium
And my untwisting soul begs to let go to let out
To grant forgiveness through these words
That pour forth in whispers and shouts, they are quotes and phrases,
they are poem
And song
they are conversations on the phone
and with the self,
They are my letters to Jeremy.

I wrote a letter to my son today

You're so pleased.
Where is he?
Gone?
Fall in love too fast
And play the fool.
I know it hurts.

I don't know what to write today
Because there's no news here
I'm at a loss of words you know

lay empty as the vase
that once cradled roses
now lifeless and dry.
