to opt for clothing which flatters your shape and which doesn't make you look like you are trying too hard. Clothing that has an air of desperation about it detracts from confidence. What you wear should always add to making you feel good, rather than self conscious or false.

Bright and Bold.

Bright and bold may sound like the name of a washing powder, but they are also attached to clothing choice disasters. Large patterns, especially when worn close to the face, can be aging and distract observers away from your assets. Hawaiian shirts, when worn by the older man, can look false and out dated, where as well fitted shirts in royal blue or deep red can look expensive and attractive while also looking youthful and fresh.

Neon clothing in acid green, fluorescent pink or bright orange are best suited for an eighties fancy dress party or for candies in a sweet shop. Anyone who wears them will suffer from a poor skin tone that makes them look old and unfashionable.

Instead try plainer, primary colors for clothing in good material which isnt too thin. A small amount of detailing is fine, and can inject a little of your personality into your appearance. But too many patterns, bright colors, beading and ruffles can appear fussy, messy and old.

Underwear.

Just as the foundation of a house is what keeps it standing tall, the foundation made by your underwear has much to do with how you stand too, and with how youthful your figure looks to others.

Many women make the mistake of believing that that which you cant observe on the outside doesn't count. They spend a fortune on new outer clothing while forcing themselves into loose bras which allow their breasts to sag to their waistline and underpants which are either huge or far too small.

Men can also be criminal in the underwear department by happily wearing faded, gray underpants day in and day out, and sometimes the same pair too!

Any underwear which has significantly faded in the wash, lost its elastic, has holes, or which doest actually fit you should go into the dust bin.

Remember the Classics.

Some folks consider classical clothing as being the beginning of old age. How wrong they are! Granted, there is a definite look which certain older members of society sport such as crinoline, polyester and wrinkled stockings. However this certainly isnt the look that I am referring to.

Classic clothing is well made and fits like a glove. It is the type of clothing which doesn't date and which always looks stylish and sophisticated.

Under the classical heading comes tailored suits, pearls, sensational black dresses, fitted jackets, Italian silk scarves, driving gloves, handmade shoes and satin evening dresses. These items may seem expensive, but you only need to own one or two to make an impact. Silk scarves are not so expensive nowadays and even handmade shoes can be found at a bargain price if you shop around.

Dressing to look ten years younger will not only make you look more youthful, but it will make you feel far younger too. Your new found confidence will detract further from your actual years and give you a self esteem boost.
