A look at Benjamin Franklin's legacy

of clues to secret lost treasure of the old American Colonies. This is now believed to be a false, by most historians. I was thinking about why would Franklin spend the time too write the letters? Most of which are of considerable length. The general explanation is that he simply wanted to get his work published. I see Ben Franklin as the type to not boast about his intelligence (he is one of the most intellectual men this country has ever seen) but I think there is a side of Franklin that is not seen, He Spends the time to write these letters and secretly have them published, just so that he may prove to, maybe no one but himself that he is smarter than most people. This dose sound ridiculous even too I, but it is also possible. These letters are just small insight to what I believe is the higher intelligence of Ben Franklin.

A lot of the values that Franklin wanted to encourage a young nation to embrace and up hold, through time, have been lost. The original founders always advocated for very virtuous men of honor to be the decision makers, in fear of, men of non-virtue would be corrupt, and would vote in a manor in which that was not good for the nation, and of more value to one's personal cause. This issue has entered the government of today; there are politicians that own business and will vote in favor of a government contract that would provide money to that persons business. Politicians will vote in ways, on issues that they do not necessarily support in exchange for campaign money for major business; all of theses examples are things that the founders were afraid of happening and they did.

The Country has lost a lot of its virtues. The Law of the constitution is almost irrelevant. Franklins was one of the main authors of the constitution and therefore believes in its rule. I believe if Franklin were alive in this day and age he would be ashamed of the way the country has gone. His Book is a great insight into the past and his beliefs, ideals, and ideas about the roles of government should be.
