In The Woods
The setting is a small log cottage at the edge of the forest. When you enter the cottage there is the living room with a stone fireplace, a wooden rocking chair, and a small bed. To the left is the kitchen with a wood burning stove, the kitchen table is strawn with flour, grain, and other baking goods.
William: When are you going to help me?
Savanna: "fustrated" I told you when I am finished!
William: ( In a whining voice ) But you said that two hours ago.
Savanna: Yes, and as you can see I am still not finished, so go out side and finish tying on the tail and I will be out in a few minutes.
Savanna kneads the bread two more times then puts it on the wooden baking board and slides it into the stove. She wipes her hands on her apron then hurries outside to her brother.
William: So, do you think it will fly?
Savanna: I don't know, we'll just have to try it and find out won't we?
Excitedly William grabs up the kite and string and takes off running.
Savanna: Oh! And don't foreget to wait for a good gust of wind before...
William: (cutting her off) I know, I know!
He runs across the field as fast as he can clutching the kite, the wind picks up and he lets the kite go. The kite sways in the sky unsteady.
Savanna: You need more tension in the line, it's going to fall if you don't pull the slack.
William: Gees! I know, would you let me do it already!
Savanna: Well...you're the one who just couldn't wait for me to come out here to help you.
William: Yeah. That was whern I was putting the stupid thing together, I can fly it BY MY SELF! Besides, I wanted to show you that I could do it.
Mweanwhile in the forest Christian has spotted a young buck, he quietly crouches low to the ground with his bow and waits for the perfect shot. He slowly pulls the bow back and prepares to release it, just then the buck is spooked and gallops off into the woods.
Christian: Damn, and it was a nice one to.
Christian freezes as he hears the sound of twigs snapping. Having the feeling that he is being watched he turns quickly and catches a blur of something running off behind him. He looks down at a chocolate colored dog.
Christian: Did ya see that Chasssy?
The dog just cocks her head an looks at him puzzled.
Christian: Well, it's just about dark we better head home.
They make their way down the river to a clearing in the woods to a small wooden shack. Christian swings open the rusty door barely hanging to the hinges. He grabs two logs and throws them into the wood heater and briskly rubs his hands together.
