The Zero-Emission No-Gasoline Alternative Fuel Power: Electric Vehicles
With recent fluxuations in gas prices, alternative fuel vehicles are becoming a hot new market. Alternative fuel vehicles can be run on a variety of different fuel types including E85 or E100 Ethanol, Biodiesel, compressed natural gas, electric batteries, compressed air, and even vegetable oil! While E85 and Biodiesel are more widely available from major manufacturers, electric vehicles are zero emission and produced by smaller automobile manufacturers. The Chevrolet Volt will be the first mass-market electric car on the market when it comes out in 2011, but for now there are a number of smaller market electric vehicles available to the savvy and eco-conscious consumer.
The Upside of Electic Energy Vehicles:
Electric vehicles save consumers from expensive gas prices and time spent at the gas station. Instead, electric vehicles recharge via a standard electric plug (special wattage plugs can be installed for faster recharge). The simplest method is just to plug your car in while you sleep. Every morning when you wake up, you'll have a freshly filled car waiting for your daily commute. At one to two cents per mile, electric charging is a wallet friendly fuel alternative. Most states now have provisions to allow consumers to choose energy suppliers for their home, and green energy providers are often at no extra cost to what you currently pay. Go to http://www.green-e.org/ to search for renewable energy providers in your area.
We've all seen the commercials and heard the message: you're different, so why buy the same car as everyone else? And yet, there are only so many major auto manufacturers and so many different models that they produce each year. The current alternative fuel vehicles produced by smaller manufacturers are numerous, and so are the eye-catching colors and designs they come in that will get noticed wherever they go. Without the start-up necessary in a gas vehicle, almost any electric vehicle can accelerate at the same speed as a gas powered sports car! With less complicated internal mechanisms, electric vehicles are also likely to need fewer repairs than gas powered internal combustion powered engines. Alternative fuel vehicles are an excellent way to stand out and make an impression on your peers as being someone who makes smart energy and design choices.
While it probably won't be your only reason for considering alternative fuel vehicles, the current world political situation
