Life
I woke up today and it was quiet around
No one was talking, there was no sound
I walked through my house to see
No one was about but me.
The eerie sound of silence was deafening
As I walked around wondering
Why was there no one around?
Why were there no voices or sounds?
To my eye I walked back to the bed
I was still tired, I guess it was the meds
But there I stood at the foot of my bed
Staring at my body instead
I was looking at myself, so pale
Laying there motionless, like a board with a nail
And by my side, there was just air
For no one knew that I was there
And in the quiet I heard voices a loud
Coming from a room with a crowd
And there I saw what I didn't want to see
Everyone was crying about me
For I laid lifeless, alone in that bed
As my husband walked to my side, to kiss my head
And at that moment I've finally seen
That lifeless body in bed was me
But I wasn't dead! That can't be!
Because I was standing there, next to me!
My spirit stood over my lifeless corpse
As the EMT's covered my lifeless corpse
This can't be! Please tell me it isn't so!
For I had so much more to live for
But my life came to a horrid end
For I was dead, my death, a bitter sweet end.
