The color of our skin is associated with our culture, growing up we are taught in the home, school and society what each color of the human race signifies and more often then not we are not painted a pretty picture of those that are different from us. There is this stereotypical mindset that boggles the mind as to how we think like we do towards another human race, when in fact its abhorrence towards their culture or some unfortunate experience with someone different then them. Skin color should not matter! No matter the skin color, our brains holds the same cells, can learn the same way, instruct and lead, follow and fight, be a father, a mother, sister or brother, speak opinions and share dreams. I believe intolerance and prejudice is a negative character trait taught in early childhood and who knows its possible its in the genes of the parents thats passed down to the child. We are all destined to achieve and have a purpose for this life no matter if its to be the mother of one who dreams one day her child will be the president of the United States or to be like Mother Teresa that loved unconditionally those less fortunate then us all over the world. To some skin color may matter, to some skin color will not matter, but its not our opinion that determines a persons future because the reason for our existence will be accomplished whether we are, red, yellow black or white.Back in ancient times when slaves were used for hard labor I have always wondered why the slaves were of a different race that were chosen, there was not only black slaves, there were other races as well. What is most common in the prejudice of others are between black and white people dating back to prehistoric times. So when a black man or woman achieves success according to the worlds standards its considered victorious, certain races have fallen to victim mentality when in fact the only victims are those that suffered at the hands of another which happened so long ago.I am white and I live in a country thats 95% black and I have always had black leadership, this has been no hindrance to me,we can rise and be what we want to be and be as ambitious as the next person,I have never allowed the black society I live in to stop me from achievements, from my experience its the white race that has dealt out a hand of degradation towards their own kind.Living in a world with so many opinions, speculations, egotists etc we can not change what everyone thinks or feels, there are close minded people out there which are ignorant that they can not possibly see themselves being under or around others different from them, we can only educate those who are willing to understand each other to appreciate another's life.I wish I can say skin color does not matter but in all honesty I am of the opinion that it does matter to alot of people and therefore these are they that will miss out on many blessings, & will suffer because of it, how ever you judge another,it will come back on you.I wanted to write positively on this article but the more I thought about it all I can share are my observations and its been my experience to the negative, which is unfortunate, but I had to learn the hard way as well, that color does matter and I know I can not spend the rest of life trying achieve acceptance for others including myself.
