Has buying a Christmas gift for the special lady in your life left you baffled? Are you unsure of how to choose a gift that will express your true feelings? Just relax, us women aren't nearly as complicated as you may think. Although you may be leaning toward big and expensive, it really isn't necessary. Most of us aren't as caught up in the actual cost of the gift, as the thought and meaning behind it. No matter what your budget allows for, you can present her with a Christmas gift that will have her girlfriends green with envy, and earn you a spot under the mistletoe.

As a good boyfriend, I'm sure you listen attentively when she discusses her likes, interests, dreams and ambitions. If not, well shame on you, and you better start, immediately. Her family and close friends will be able to give you some insight as well, whether this is a relatively new relationship, or you are just in need of a little guidance. We are flattered when you take the time to consider our innermost feelings when picking the perfect gift. The fact that you truly know and understand us is probably the best gift of all.

Consider what she likes to do with her free time, away from work and other responsibilities. Does she enjoy nature walks, painting, writing poetry, or just curling up with a good book? Whatever sparks her interest and serves as her outlet, use it as the basis for the perfect gift. Those wonderful sights she experiences on her walks can be viewed over and over when captured on film with a new camera. The budding artist would enjoy some new art supplies, or the poet a special journal in which to pen her creative thoughts. I'm sure you get the general idea now.

Maybe your girlfriend has a cherished childhood memory. Something so special that she often reminisces and speaks of it. Why not take her back and give her a chance to experience it all over again? A day at the zoo, eating cotton candy and feeding the elephants may bring the memory back to life, as she relives it again. As a little girl, did she have a beloved dog whom she shared all of her secrets with and hosted tea parties for? What about a nice figurine of that particular breed of dog, or if you're sure she wants the responsibility, how about an actual puppy of the same breed. Either one will bring back fond childhood memories of her faithful companion.
