Christmas gifts for the man who has everything

For some reason, we feel compelled to give certain people something at Christmastime, even if that person has "everything" or the financial resources to acquire just about anything they would like to purchase. This can make shopping difficult because we want to get something meaningful and yet we don't want to just get another piece a junk to add to the pile. Here are a few thoughts on what to give the man who has everything.

Nothing

Here's a thought. You could get this man absolutely nothing, or perhaps just a card. Sure, it's cruel to not include someone in the gift-giving process and you might feel like you aren't being generous. Still, if they truly have "everything", then there is no point in giving something. If they can come up with something that they actually need or want, then shopping can commence. Otherwise, think about skipping them.

A guide to selling

Another thing to give the man who has everything is a book on selling. Specifically, online sites like Ebay and Craig's List have provided people with a wonderful conduit for unloading their possessions to interested buyers. If this person has everything they might be interested in selling some of their unused items to other people.

Coal

If the man in your life has "everything" then perhaps some coal would be in order. Of course, coal is often associated with Santa Claus and children that have been "bad" during the year. Giving coal doesn't have to mean that this person has been bad, but having "everything" in life could be construed as bad so coal might be appropriate. Charcoal briquettes should suffice.

Donations

When someone has everything, it might be best to spend your money on someone or something else. More and more charitable organizations are offering opportunities for people to give donations in someone's "name", which can make it a good gift for the person who has it all. If they have a particular charity that they support, this can be a much more meaningful gift than just another trinket.

Overall, the person who has everything often doesn't worry too much about getting more "stuff". Therefore, the giver can get a little creative or unorthodox when coming up with new gift ideas. The important thing to remember during the holidays is that gifts are supposed to mean something. Rather than just following a ritual, a person should give a gift because there is a reason to give that item.
