at dollar-type stores. These are the perfect types of stores to find items to stuff those stockings.
Loving poems that come from the heart can be printed on your home computer and framed. Add a personal photo or memento to create a collage and you will be giving a gift that can be viewed for years to come. Grandma and Grandpa will love a work of art created by their grandchildren. Rather than using a picture, have your child leave painted handprints on their artwork. Your child will also be able to see how big their hands have grown by next Christmas.
Buying a new Christmas tree every year not only throws your money away after the holiday season is over, it takes another tree away from the environment. This year consider an imitation Christmas tree, most can be purchased for less than a real Christmas tree. This will be one less cost your family will have at the holidays. If ornaments and decorations are needed this year, you are only limited by your imagination.
Remember stringing popcorn for the tree every year? If not, this is a fun activity for adults and children that can be shared together. Decorations can be made from old Christmas cards, construction paper, popsicle sticks, shells, pinecones and the list can go on and on. Just look around at what you already own and be creative at finding new ways to use some of your old items.
For Christmas dinner, a potluck style meal can be created with everyone bringing a dish to the gathering. This will help everyone save on their holiday bill. If your Christmas involves entertaining the family, have a movie night. Chances are you already own several movies that haven't been seen in a very long time. Pop up some popcorn, put in "A Christmas Carol" and take a moment to be thankful for what we have been blessed with.
