How to plan a memorable Christmas Party.
You do not have to be a millionaire to host a Christmas party people will long remember. But you do have to plan, and think ahead.
Start by thinking through your budget. How much can you really afford to spend? After you have decided what your limit should be, stick with it. If you do not, you will begin feeling like a martyr and that everyone is having a good time at your expense.
If your budget is tight, that doesn't mean you cannot have a enjoyable party. Just give your guests the opportunity to bring something. Most people are eager to help. You could even make up a contest. "A prize will be given for the best appetizer. Please bring a finger food for 20 guests." Then people could taste each entry and vote for the best one. You could give away a Christmas ornament or some inexpensive token to the winner.
Next, think about whom you would like to invite. Are your friends mostly young or is there a mixed age group? Do your friends know one another? How comfortable are they with one another? Are there extremely different personalities in the group?
After looking over your guest list carefully, you can decide what kind of party you want to host. Do you want an "eating meeting" or a "game playing" frolic. Do you want your party to be based on some kind of theme, old tradition, or just a time for socializing with friends?
The next thing to consider is of utmost importance. When will you schedule your party? Christmas time is the busiest time of the year. In almost every part of our society something will be happening. It is a time for church parties, work parties, special events for charities, concerts, school festivities, and the list goes on.
Plan early and get your invitations out early in December. If you do not there will inevitably be someone on your list who will not be able to come. Most people love to have their parties as close to Christmas as possible. This creates a lot of stress on party goers. So, break tradition and have your party early. Let your party welcome in the Christmas season. But you will only be successful in doing this, if you have thought ahead.
If you enjoy hosting parties and special events, make sure you always check out the clearance area after Christmas. This will give you a jump on the next Christmas season. You will be able to find some really fun stuff, that was previously not affordable, at reasonable prices.
If your guests enjoy giving to charitable causes, afford them the opportunity to give.
