You're in love; you both know you're going to get married, but you haven't popped the official question yet. Then along comes an opportunity to go to Las Vegas perhaps it is for another friend's wedding; a convention, or just a vacation together. You decide that Las Vegas is the place to make a proposal that will live in both of your memories for the rest of your life. Depending on your personalities, there are multiple places to get down on bended knee.
Big Fanfare. Do you both enjoy being in the limelight? Then do it in a public place. While it's doubtful you can get one of the big names like Lance Burton to participate (unless you know someone) you may be able to find a smaller magic act and ask the magician if he'll call on you to be a volunteer from the audience. Then he needs a second volunteer your intended. A velvet mat, an overturned shimmering bowl, a wave of the wand, and voila the diamond ring appears followed by your proposal, hopefully an acceptance with a kiss, and applause from the audience.
Or maybe you can arrange to have the question in neon lights on one of the marquees. Or on a banner on the bridge you're going to walk across. Or hanging in the lobby as you check in. The possibilities are endless limited only by your imagination, your pocketbook, and your powers of persuasion.
Romantic and Exciting. Pop the question going up the first hill on the New York, New York roller coaster. She'll have a lot more to think about than traveling at high speeds upside down. Or take the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower, 3/5 as tall as the real one in Paris. With a view of the night lights of Vegas, you can profess your love je t'aime, je t'aime, je t'aime. Follow up with an elegant dinner at the restaurant on the 11th floor. The Stratosphere is another high altitude place to become betrothed. In a gondola passing under the Rialto Bridge at the Venetian is another romantic place. And if you haven't actually bought the ring yet, the gondola lets you out at the Venetian shops where you can pick it out together. Another favorite place to get engaged is by the fountains outside the Bellagio. Time the moment to coincide with the height of the arcs or do it just before so that the water serves as a romantic exclamation point. Or perhaps you'd like the classical beauty of the gardens inside. The scent of flowers will blend with your words of love. Expect congratulations from people passing by.
Private and Memorable. Maybe you want it to be just between the two of you.
The flamingoes at the Tropicana will give you privacy if you propose in front of a waterfall. Inside a cabana at the MGM, Bellagio, or Green Valley Ranch are all perfect places for a sunset proposal followed by a romantic swim. Las Vegas is filled with elegant restaurants. Request a booth or table away from the center and propose over a glass of wine as you wait for dinner. Of course, you both may be too excited to eat.
In High Places. Nothing reminds us of our magnificent earth more than being
high above it. From a helicopter ride over the city at night, ask the question. Or take a day trip to the Grand Canyon and from the new glass overlook that extends over the canyon, propose that this beautiful world of ours would be a better place with the two of you walking through life together. Or, take a hike to scenic Red Rock Canyon. Even if you're on a guided hike, there are opportunities to slip away to a high vista and propose with Mother Nature as your witness.
Las Vegas is a busy city but you can find a special place to make the beginning of your life together as romantic and unique as the two of you are. Congratulations in advance!
