Christmas 2008: Christmas gift ideas for your girlfriend

by Wendy Allmon

Created on: December 16, 2008

Christmas can be expensive, but there is a wonderful gift you can give your girlfriend that costs very little, but goes over really well. All women want to be pampered, and you can create a spa for her right at home. Shopping for the items doesn't have to be expensive either, just head to Wal-Mart or any other store that carries beauty and bath items for women.

Your shopping list (for items that you don't already have on hand):

fingernail polish

toe separators

polish remover

cotton balls

pumice stone

nail clippers

cuticle sticks

pedicure tub (or a big plastic basin big enough for feet)

hair mask

face mask

face cleanser

bath fizzies (or any type of bath soak)

loofah or bath sponge

bath gel (soothing smell)

massage oil or lotion

hair clip

her favorite drink and dessert

Next make a handmade card or print one on your computer. It should say something like, "John's Day Spa" in big fancy letters, inserting your name for John. Below this say something like, "This certificate entitles you to one full spa treatment" and include the date.

Shortly before she arrives for her day, have water warmed up on the stove and the bath tub half-full of hot water. Make sure you have plenty of clean towels. All the bath items should be in the bathroom, and the face and nail items and massage oil near a recliner or comfy chair.

When she arrives, sit her down in the comfy chair and remove her shoes and socks. Take the warm water from the stove and place it in the foot bath with a couple drops of the massage oil. Make sure her pant legs are rolled up and place her feet in the tub to soak. While her feet soak, warm a wet washcloth and place over her face for a couple of minutes. While her pores are opening under the warm washcloth, warm a few more more wet washcloths and prepare a bowl of warm water. Remove the washcloth and slowly and firmly rub a small amount of the face cleanser in her skin. Remove with one of the clean washcloths, rinsing it in the bowl if needed. Apply the mask and leave on the amount of time directed on the label, then remove it in the same manner.

After her face is clean and dry, move to her feet. Lift one foot at a time, using the pumice stone gently on each, then pushing back each cuticle. After finishing each, massage the toes, feet, ankles, and calves before placing back in water. Once the pedicure is finished, gently dry her feet, set the tub aside, and place the toe separators between her toes. Polish each toe very carefully. Leave the toe separators in place and fetch the drink
