Besides being a gambling hot spot, Las Vegas offers excellent sightseeing, shopping, day spas, games and rides, sports and productions. If you'd like to spend some of your time outside of the casino, read on for a list of things to do other than gamble in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sightseeing:
Sightseeing in Vegas cannot be paralleled with any other place in the world. Where else can you see so many things for free or a nominal cost within a few mile radius? Check out the reconstructed King Tut's Tomb at the Luxor, watch the amazing water display at the Bellagio, see lions up close and personal at MGM or enjoy a gondola ride at the Venetian. The list goes on and on, there are aquariums to visit, a vintage sign museum, a court jester's stage with magicians and jugglers and television city where you can preview pilots of new television shows.
Shopping:
Las Vegas is a shopping Mecca with stores to suit nearly every budget and taste. Some of the options include:
Factory outlet shopping-Las Vegas Premium outlets, Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas and Las Vegas Outlet Center.
Designer stores-Fendi, Armani, Versace, Bvlgari, Max Mara, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada and Tiffany & Co.
Department stores- Bloomingdale's, Dillard's, Niemen Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's.
The Antique district
Souvenir stores galore
Theme stores like M&M's World and everything Coca Cola.
Spas:
If the strip feels like it's wearing your out, then why not head to one of the fabulous spas to rejuvenate. Some of the top spas include:
Aquae Sulis
A mediterranean style spa at the JW Marriott. Specializes in a ritual bath soak with hot and cold plunges, hydrotherapy, sauna and massaging shower.
Bathouse at Mandalay Bay Resort
Offers lots of mix and match packages, organic products and seasonal yoga on Mandalay's man made beach.
Spa at Green Valley Ranch
Just a few minutes from the strip, but with amazing views of it. There are lots of different therapies on offer from hot stone therapy through to specialties like the Green Valley green tea wrap treatment.
Nurture the spa at Luxor
With a day pass here you can enjoy the whirlpool, steam bath, sauna and fitness center. Treatments on offer range from massage, facial and scrubs right through to make up application.
Games and rides:
If you are thrill seeking then there's lots on offer. Visit the stratosphere to take an ultra fast elevator ride, ride the big shot, insanity ride and play arcade games. There are numerous other arcades like an impressive video arcade at the MGM and the Wizards Arcade at Excalibur. There are rollercoaster's at the Sahara and New York New York and virtual rides at GameWorks and Excalibur. Bowling is on offer at many venues like Neonopolis and Green Valley Ranch.
Sports:
Las Vegas hosts many of the worlds championship boxing fights, there's the Nascar speedway, college football and basketball and minor league baseball and hockey.
Productions:
From small comedy acts through to big name celebrity performances, Las Vegas is filled with production shows. Cirque du soleil performs at the MGM Grand, Jubilee is a great showgirl style production and the Excalibur hosts the Tournament of Kings dinner show. There are many stadium like arenas where celebrity singers come to town like; Alicia Keys, U2, Chris Issak and Leanne Rimes. If you are feeling like some culture there's the Las Vegas Philharmonic or Nevada Ballet theatre.
These activities are just the tip of the iceberg there are also Imax and drive in movies, dance clubs like; Ice, Tangerine, Light, Pure and Rain, heaps of dining options and so much more! Do yourself a favor and add some variety to your Vegas trip.
