How to save money on gas

We noticed the last years a huge increase of gas prices and it is important to search possibilities how we can save money on gas. It is easier said than done because we need gas for many purposes. The two main reasons which affect the price of gas are the high oil prices and the value of the dollar (gas is traded mainly in dollar). The oil prices are affected by supply and demand like all other products but understanding the causes of these changes in prices is more complicated compared with prices of groceries, technology items, entertainment or other products which you need in your daily life.

Oil prices fluctuate daily and often caused through political and economic reasons but is also a result of the increasing demand of the emerging markets, for example China and India. No matter which the reason might be, we all need to save on gas to reduce our daily expenses.

There are several ways how you can save gas and most everyone will try to search efficient ways to save gas for their car but this energy resource is also used for many purposes in the kitchen. Here are a few suggestions which may help you to reduce your gas expenses:

A. Saving gas for your car

1)a. Drive less

The easiest way to save gas for your car is to limit your mileage. People tend to use their car every time they leave home. They drive even with a car to a shop which is situated only a few miles from the place you are. If you walk or you ride with your bicycle you can easy save some money and it is an efficient way of exercising.

If you have some short tips to do you can best combine these trips and make it to one; this way you avoid returning for every short trip and your mileage is limited. Once you are in town for shopping, you can best park for the time you need. Some of the shops may be close to each other and can easy be done by walking.

1) b. Carpooling or taking the bus or train

Instead of driving with your car to your work; you can consider some alternatives. Maybe a few colleagues live not far from you and carpooling can be efficient to reduce the costs. Taking the bus or train is often also a good alternative if you don't lose too much time and can reach your workplace easily.

2) Driving habits

Driving smoothly is an efficient way to limit your gas expenses. It is recommended to drive slow and maintaining a safe distance from other cars. This will avoid to anticipate if traffic moves slowly and you can maintain your speed without accelerating. An important tip is also to avoid
