Poetry: The void

by Sean Portland

Created on: December 15, 2008

Elliptical blackness
Omitting hope from your promise
You pledge only to swallow me
You are the ghost carnivore
Gaping jaws, dripping with immortal silence
Ghoul with the blanket belly
Ravenous thing

Treacherous lure
I'll be forever falling in you
Heart wholly devoured
You are the ice monster
Frosty fingers, lunging towards me
Taking acid breaths
Wretched thing

What is it I could see in you?

Empty puzzle
Myriad mirrors less a light
No dawn or dusk
You are the lost
Fragile quiet, hoping to be loved
Dry tears
Poor thing

Patient rain
You return my echo's still
But they are not mine
They're yours to keep
I can fill you, nourish you
That you may weep
My love
