Every year, it seems, the Championship games are better than the Super Bowl. This year could be not different. The two games remaining have so much potential.
First, the AFC game is one with two teams with a rich history against each other. Indy vs. New England. It doesn't matter how these two teams fare against each other in the regular season, you can throw that out in the playoffs. This year will be no different. Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning is this generation's Marino vs. Elway. These two quarterbacks have done great things with their teams. Brady has led the Pats to multiple Super Bowl wins, while Peyton is on the verge of letting it be the "one that got away." This will be an interesting battle again. Since the game is being played in Indy and Indy's defense has really stepped up to the plate during the playoffs, I give this one to Peyton and the Colts.
The NFC game is one worth watching. "Da Bears" have made a shambles of every team they faced this year. They have clearly positioned themselves for the Super Bowl. But, the Saints are this year's feel good story. They survived a horrible season last year, in terms of play on the field and tragedy off. It seems this year they are playing for the pride of New Orleans and to show that the city is not gone. They seem like the team everyone wants to win to show Mother Nature you can't keep us down. Unfortunately, I fear the Bears will ultimately be too much for them, and will advance to the Super Bowl.
So, as these games approach, grab the chips and cold drinks, sit down with your best friends and prepare for two Super games. While any pair of these teams in the Super Bowl promises to be a good match up, we know these two games will provide plenty of action and excitement.
