Christmas is a time of giving and sharing
A time of love and hope
To be around those who are caring
Let's try not to mope
The snow is glistening
The air is fresh and ice-cold
The stars are shimmering
So bright to behold
The bustle of the traffic
The malls are buzzing like bees
The thumping in my head grows louder
As I fight off the urge to sneeze
People say Bless you!
Thanks is given to anyone who hears
I walk around the mall
Almost in tears
Gifts of every colour and size
Are waiting to be purchased
I look at them
With big round eyes
Wondering what you will say
When on Christmas
Gifts will be given on that special day
From your wish list
Waking up early in the morn
We stumble to the kitchen
Feeling very worn
And acting like the Grinch
Our morning coffee
The aroma fills our nostrils with delight
The sounds of excited voices
Fill the ears in the early morning light
Everyone gathers around the tree
Where last night the glimmer of lights shone bright
While I sat with my dog on my knee
Looking at this pleasant sight
As we stared intently into its blinking form
Thinking of tomorrow, what it may hold
Waiting till the early morn
Wishing it weren't so cold
Here we are now
Waiting with baited breath
To see what's wrapped in my
Pretty packages down on the left
Rip goes the paper
Shrieks of mirth and delight are heard
Our winter blues disappear as vapour
Thanks is given as a kind word
We hold up our new gift
It's something we've always wanted
Our spirits lift
Our past is no longer haunted
By the memories
Of days gone by
Santa has been good to us this year
Then I begin to cry
The love of the family
No man can replace
The strength around us
And God's wonderful grace
The people around the tree
May never be the same
For the future you cannot see
You'll be glad that you came
From here to eternity
The players are cast
Each moment is a lifetime
One never knows how long it shall last
With hearts hopeful and eyes opened wide
The feeling is so tender
Filling us fully inside
We must always remember
In sharing the Christmas spirit
Laughing is good medicine for the soul
What once, was considered a fleeting moment
Is now something, we now dearly behold
Forever in its presence
In its grasp of delight
We will sing happily
That the Season is bright
With the love of our family
In our hearts tonight
We wish you a Merry Christmas
On this beautiful starry night

All I Want for Christmas is a Bottle of Scotch
