The Squirrel

Once upon a time
In a land far away
A lonely little squirrel
Ventured out to play

He visited the sparrow
High upon her nest
As she lay on her eggs
But, she begged to rest

He went to see if rabbit
Would want to play or roam
But, when he found the burrow
Rabbit wasn't home

He wandered through the forest
Alone as he could be
He began to wonder if he
Should go back to his tree

Then he saw the giant oak
And he spied on the ground
Piles and piles of acorns
They were all around

He began to notice
All of the other squirrels
Now, he had friends to play with
Lots of boys and girls

For they were all about
That mighty oaken tree
Busy at work and at play
All as happy as could be

The little squirrel soon joined them
He made friends right away
He was never lonely again
After that wonderful day

The moral of the story is
To get out of your ruts
Is to look around and find
A great big bunch of nuts.
