How to find writing ideas

With so many ways to make money writing articles for Internet sites, one could easily feel like the possibilities are limited. This is simply not true. There are millions of articles published and ideas floating around for a million more. Here are some tips to help you catch some of those great ideas for writing articles of your own.

* Keep a notebook with you at all times. Take it with you in the car, take it with you in the bathroom, and take it with you when you go to sleep. When you come up with your hundredth brilliant idea of the day, or awake from a strange or vivid dream, you'll have something to write on immediately. Record all your ideas, thoughts and notions because you never know where and when one thought will lead on to the next.

* Read a lot. Read magazines, books, Internet news articles, and fellow writers' blogs. People write about all sorts of things. News events, opinions, business, politics, website reviews, instructional articles, travel, etc. Keep an open mind and think of ideas through reading. You may be flooded with so many thoughts that you'll be able to stop reading this article right here!

* Browse articles that others have written. Perhaps you are already aware of the subject, but have additional pointers not discussed in the articles that are available. You can mention tips previously published by other authors, but put the focus on your added viewpoints. Fresh ideas are very popular.

* Think of things that you know how to do. Maybe you know how to change the oil in a car. Lots of people don't know how to do that. Maybe you have a super-efficient or quick way to effectively clean your house. Maybe you can draw or paint. Writing about things you are aware of and are proficiently skilled at will be an easy task. Even things that you only know a little about can form into great ideas. Just do a little research and add what you learn to what knowledge you already possess.

* Think of things that you always wanted to know how to do or know more about. Learning about new things can be fun and rewarding. Why not kill two birds with one stone and write about it once you've learned more? Learning something makes you somewhat of an expert. If you weren't aware of certain facts, chances are there are others who would like that information as well. Gather information from several different sources and then compile it all into your own great and insightful article.

* Don't be too complex with your creativity. Think simple. Look around you and take everyday simple tasks and wonder if other people are unfamiliar with them. Think back to your childhood and try to recall when you learned about a topic. Is it possible that everyone was not exposed to this information? Did you experience an uncommon event? Write about it. No need for rocket science here.

* Check Internet question and answer sites and look for popular questions. If many people are asking about a certain topic, you can bet that your article will include popularly searched information and answers. Not only does this give you great ideas, but you may get more hits, make more money, or receive more kudos for answering a popular query.

Maybe your ideas are more unconventional, or even radical. There are always people searching for a fresh perspective on a common subject. If you're having a particularly uncreative day, don't push it. Take a break and you might find that ideas will flow more freely when you aren't actually looking for them.
