I drift so high
fly with doves
I'm one with sky
I emit love
I try to stay
but my cloud rips through
fall to earth
back to you
To drain my brain
I find a vein
The water in the sink
drips brown again
Baby creeps at my feet
her eyes, empty pools,
look right through me
On the love seat
you rock with coughs
there's no more heat
it's been shut off
Curled up like pigs in a blanket, I
hear your heart's slow murmur of song
I long
to match your beat, no use
The baby screams for milk
or juice
For my daughter there's
only brown water
For the innocents there is only slaughter
I tell your sad smile I'm going to the store
You've heard it before
You let the baby scream while I escape
from reality back to a dream
I score, I shoot
Billie's singing Strange Fruit
I drift so high
fly with doves
I'm one with sky
I emit love
Maybe this time I'll touch the sun
Maybe it's faster with a gun

Poetry: Desperation
by Neil Rodgers
A GIRL NAMED HOPE
As she sang to the flowers and she talked to the trees,
She sat down on the grass in the morning's cool
In desperation
We are capable of many things
We are able to act without feeling
Able to put ourselves aside
There's a feeling deep inside of me
that makes me want to cry
I don't know what it's doing there
I keep on asking why.
There
by Liz Chase
Desperation took her there to the place she feared to go
She tried so hard to stay away but today she was weak
Life was too
Desperation grips me like a vise,
Trying to avoid this awful demise.
The panic swells in deep waves,
Trapped, helpless, crawling
