to avoid detection. It also encourages the player not to kill enemies.

It does give the realistic feel of being a secret agent or a black-ops soldier. The player is in hostile territory filled with enemies. Also, the player does not have access to heavy weaponry.
They have to rely on stealth. If they do not, they can get killed very quickly.
Several examples would be: "Metal Gear," "Splinter Cell," "Tenchu," "Thief," and "Hitman."

FIGHTING

Fighting games are by far my most favorite games to play. If you are a martial artist, you may appreciate such games. This genre is split up into: versus, competitive, tournament, and head-to-head. It is pretty much two players trying to beat each other into a K.O. Most fighting games employ special and super attacks that defy the law of physics.

Several examples of games would be: "Street Fighter," "Tekken," "Mortal Kombat," "King of Fighters," "Guilty Gear," and "Virtua Fighter."

SHOOTER

This is by far one of the most popular game genres. You have your first-person shooter (FPS) and mass-multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS). This is a simple concept in which the game is played from a first-person view in which you can shoot and/or beat down your enemies. This is by far one of the most fun game genres of them all.

There are games which let you switch from first-person to third-person and vice-versa. Some notable games would be: "Half-Life," "Doom," "Unreal Tournament," "Resistance," "Battlefield," "Call To Duty" and "Gears of War." Capabilities of online play make these games very popular. Without that, FPS games probably would not be as fun.

BEAT EM UP

Beat em up games is another sub-genre of action games. These are games in which players engage in close combat against many opponents. The storyline tends to be simple. But, it is fun to beat multiple opponents senseless.
They are similar to fighting games but are completely different.

Several notable examples would be: "Streets of Rage," "Double Dragon," "Captain Commando," and "Final Fight."

ROLE-PLAYING

Role-playin g games have a few sub-categories. These are games notable for their deep storylines. As a result, they can become very addicting. These games revolve around a group of characters or one character that has to embark on some quest. The characters will make new friends and enemies. Role-playing games have their different combat mechanics such as a bar, a turn-base system, or a real-time strategy system.

Notable games would be: "Final Fantasy," ".hack//," "Wild
