When looking in the world of simulation games, there key of some of the success of works like Roller Coaster Tycoon and Diner Dash have been their ability to incorporate some realism and if you're looking for that in Kukoo Kitchen, then you're sadly disappointed but might not even care.
Jessi owns Kukoo machianics which specializes in making space culinary art equipment for space cooks, but there is one problemthere are no SPACE COOKS!
So you control Chill-Li, a telepathic dog who helps her friend by becoming her first space cook. You travel all over the Galaxy looking for clients. As you gain in levels, you are able to purchase more inventions so that customers have the opportunity to choose from a variety of fast foods such as Hamburgers, French fries and Pizza, all served on a cafeteria tray. As you gain in levels your cliental grows from serving dog and cats to serving slugs and even the president of Galaxy shows gratitude for you tasty and speedy treats.
The graphics for this Questtrackers creation are amazing.
They are up to par with that of a program on the Cartoon Network. The truly creative cutsenses are the best feature of the game and the gameplay graphics are hilarious, however the wacky cartoonish inventions are cool at first but tend to lose their effect at around the fifth level. Their annoyance shows even with the upgrades as only one upgrade is allowed after every mission, even though you have more than enough funds to do so.
The sound of Kukoo Kitchen tends to get annoying at times but they fulfill the purpose that they are set out to do, to create an out-there atmosphere fitting for the target audience of young children. The voiceovers are done wonderfully and do the storyline some justice.
Unfortunately, gameplay is one of the easiest controls that might be Kukoo Kitchen's downfall. The majority of the time you are clicking a dragging food from the machines on a tray that is way too forgiving even for beginners. It wasn't until the 10th level that the gamer is actually challenged by a very confusing boss level and that was a breeze. The gameplay at time completely lacks any type of innovation. With levels so easy, the gamer purchasing the full version of the game to complete it in less than three hours, with almost no replay value. It feels like dragging items on your desktop.
The game is meant for gamers who are new to PC gaming. At $6.99 for the full version of Kukoo Kitchen, it is a value for children but for the casual gamer, the free hour trial will satisfy your inner child. 2/5
