He's not my problem anymore.
No more busted doors.
No more broken dishes.
No more bruises.
No more sleepless nights
Wondering if he is with you,
Afraid he'll come home drunk.
Afraid he'll come home.
No more walking on eggshells,
Uncertain of his mood.
No more tears.
No more fear.
He's not my problem anymore.
Those words were on my lips
Tonight when you called
Your voice racked with sobs.
It's your turn...
For busted doors
Broken dishes
Bruises
For sleepless nights wondering,
Is he drunk?
Is he with her?
Is he coming home?
No, he is not my problem anymore.
But you are.
I should have warned you
Would you have believed me?
For you, I have...
Tears,
Fears,
And sleepless nights.

Poetry: Compassion
A Clump Of Clay
I'm nothing but a clump of clay,
I wait to be molded by God's hands.
My shape and gender is known only by
As he approached his local convenience store
He noticed a tattered man sitting by the door
Can you spare some change is what
Bittersweet Symphony
I really hated you when I first met you
I felt like you were lying to everyone around
Seeing you smile
Compassion beams outward to me - flowing
From your bosom there bestowing
Rivers of love from your piercing eyes
Of tender
For Haiti...
Spirit of compassion
may your gracious caring hands
touch the lives of those in need
upon our troubled lands
