Can you be a Christian and support Roe vs. Wade? Well the answer, though blunt and harsh as it is, is no. That is like asking can you be a Christian and support rapists. That is like asking can you be a Christian and worship the devil. That is like asking can you be a Christian and support the persecution of the faith.
You see with God there is no gray area. Now though the Bible does not directly state that abortion is a sin, it does say that God values and loves the life of the unborn. He knew us while we were in our mothers womb. We also know that the Bible says that murder is a sin. And to God, a sin is a sin is a sin. There is no gray area. He detests sin and calls us to do the same. This is fact, not a biased opinion or belief, but a fact that based on what we know about the foundations of Christianity we believe that sin is wrong and supporting sin to continue is not living a Christ like life.
There are many out there who will attempt to sympathize their religion with what society deems is okay. This is not what we as followers of Christ are called to do. While we are all imperfect and we all sin, choosing a lifestyle and beliefs that contradict the teachings of the Bible and Christ are not that of what Christianity is about. We all will sin. Fact. Should we choose to support and defend sin? No. Fact.
If you believe in Christ and in the Bible you believe that by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior you receive as a gift the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is our new conscience, He is the voice of God in our hearts that guide us through life. Choosing to support sin is not from the Spirit and therefore neglecting the Spirit for a worldly desire or want and accepting that desire or want to be part of your beliefs and lifestyle is a rejection of the Lord. Therefore you may call yourself a Christian, wear the title or whatever but if you know that something is a sin yet still support it you are not speaking as a follower of Christ, therefore you are not really a Christian.
This debate is not about whether or not abortion should be legal. It is not about whether or not it is murder. It is only about whether or not you can be a Christian and support abortion. The answer is no. By choosing to support a sin as part of a norm a lifestyle or belief you are contradicting God and therefore are rejecting Him. He has strict rules and is specific in how to live life for Him. These are biblical facts.
While many would attempt to cram Bible versus down the throats of others I don't believe that would help this debate. Everyone has access to the Bible, whether it be in the form of a book or on the computer. If you want to look into the issue go to www.biblegateway.com There they have every version of the Bible in different languages and you can read the Bible or search through versions of the Bible by typing in a subject. Research for yourself and open your hearts to Him, reflect on His word and pray. After doing these things the truth will be revealed to you.
