Its Cold Outside
Mom steps outside and notices the sudden weather change from the day before and she says to herself: Well thats what you call Texas weather for you.
Dad: I know (he steps out with his wife, laying a loving arm around her shoulders.) Isn't it nice.
Mom: It sure is, finally we have a winter and definitely a winter to remember. I mean look around you there's snow every where and our neighbors are out building snowman. (She sighs as she pulls her robe close to herself.) Just yesterday it was hot and humid. Now its freezing.
A wintery breeze blows through the house.
Mom: Brrr we better get inside. (She closes the door and turns on the tv.)
News reporter: Well folks it looks like Christmas has come early for some of us on this fine morning. The snow has come as promised. So now, its time to pull out those winter jackets that you never thought that you would need again and go and enjoy some snow. Cause we will never know when we will see another day like this. For the first time in years snow has come and welcomed Texas. Go out there and build a snow man and have a few snow fights. (From a far off place behind the camera) Hey Joey, (the news reporter looks up from the paper that he was reading and in comes a snow ball thrown from behind and hits him smack dab in the face. Joey laughs as he continues on with the reporting.) There are no school closures as of now, but many schools have called in and are allowing 2 hours to 3 hour delays so that their students can enjoy some snow before school. The schools that have stated this are: (The news reporter reads off a list of schools that will be closed for 2 to 3 hours.) Stayed tuned for further news and updates on schools.
At that the kids came bustling out of their room screaming: Its snowing, its snowing!
Tina giggled as she enveloped her kids into her arms. Her children have never ever seen sow and they had always wanted snow and even asked Santa for snow, but they never got it and now their dreams came true.
Gilly: Momma can we go outside and play and build snowman.
Jake: We have school Gilly, remember.
Gilly: Aww mom do we have to go?
Mom: Great news your school has closed down for 2 to 3 hours just so you guys can go play in the snow.
Shrikes came from both of the children as they headed towards the door.
Mom: Hold on one minute (her hand rested on the door knob.) Now its freezing out there and I don't want you guys to catch a cold so come on and help me get your coats out of the attic.
Gilly and Jake: Aww mom do we have to.
Jake: Yeah mom, I can handle this cold weather I am not going to need some smelly old jacket.
Mom: No you guys are going to need your jackets. (She places her hands on her hips) no jackets no playtime out in the snow and I shuffle you guys straight off to school.
At that the kids quieted down and assisted their mom in taking down their jackets.
She put beany hats on both of her children making sure to cover their head and their ears, then she grabbed the gloves and placed them on their hands and the scarf to finish it off to wrap around their necks.
She then steps aside to look them over.
Mom: Now thats my babies, they are all bundled up and ready to go.
Jake: Aw mom do we got to wear all this stuff? (He lifted up his arms not really lifting them much but sporting his new look.)
Mom: Yes, now go.
The kids rushed outside screaming and throwing snow at one another and were greeted by some of the neighborhood kids that were also excited about the snow and just wanted to play and have some fun.
Gina was having a nice time seeing her kids out playing in the snow and it just brought back some memories of when she was a kid and tears sprung in her eyes. This was something that she always wanted her kids to enjoy.
