If former enemies can become best friends, then ex-lovers can become best friends. There was this one girl who I talked with a few years ago.
She told me this interesting story about her roommate. The two of them used to be girlfriend and boyfriend. Now, they are friends and roommates. Upon hearing that, I was very shocked. Apparently, it was possible for the two of them to be roommates. But, there was always the thought that the two of them may hook up again or have the occasional sex. Apparently it was not the case. Even after the relationship ended, they respected each other's boundaries.
They were there for each other through thick and thin.
From former lovers, they became roommates. From roommates, they became best friends. She told me that he went with her to Washington DC due to a family crisis. Apparently, her cousin was beaten up by her ex-boyfriend. She was needed by her cousin. He accompanied her on the trip to Washington DC.
They were not lovers; but, they were friends. Can you and your ex-lover become best friends? I would say yes. There are several reasons that I believe so. This relationship is proof enough. It is interesting to learn so many new things.
The first reason:
There is a possibility that the two of you were best friends to begin with. It is common for best friends to become lovers. This is due to them knowing so much about each other.
It can work out. At the same time, those romantic relationships do not work out because it makes one another predictable. If they break up, they could go back to being best friends. They can be best friends; but, they can be lousy romantic partners to one another.
As a learning lesson, perhaps they realize that it is best that they remain as best friends. In that respect, ex-lovers can become best friends.
The second reason:
There are plenty of best friends that were former enemies in the past. It is a bit trickier for former enemies to become best friends.
However, those friendships tend to become far stronger. Both sides have remembered what they went through as former enemies. They left the past behind them and focused on a new future.
If former enemies can become best friends, ex-lovers can become best friends. It just takes time, effort, and communication. By communicating, ex-lovers can become best friends. Just because they were not right romantic partners for each other, it does not mean they cannot become best friends.
Reason three:
After the relationship ends, the ground is going to become shaky. But, that
