Scene 1: Stalking Carolers
A feastive family room, decked out from top to bottom. Two teens lounge on the couch, texting.
Jamie: Did you hear that?
Julie: Hmmm?
Jamie: Someone is outside.
The girls walk to the door. As they get closer to the front door, the noise gets louder.
Carolers: (not seen, but angelic voices heard) O holy night, the stars are brightly shinning...(continuing the song in the background.)
Jamie: What the heck?
Julie: (peaking through the front curtains) I don't know. Do you think we should open the door?
Jamie: No. They might be creeps who know my Ma and Dad are still at work.
Julie: What a joke. Do they think people actually do this anymore.
Jamie: Yeah right. (turns toward the window, speaking in a loud voice) Hop into the twenty-first century why don't ya?!
Both girls laugh and walk back into the family room. After some time of texting...)
Jamie: (laughs loudly) Ha, get this Julie.
Julie: Hmmm?
Jamie: Karla just tex'd, there's some creeps singing Christmas songs in her front yard. What are the chances of that?
Julie: Weirdos.
Jamie: (flipping around on the couch, with her head hanging off the seat) This is hilarious! Jason has some outside his house too.
Julie: What? Right now? Both of them?
Jamie: Yeah, what's up with that?
Julie: Maybe they're serial killers stalking the pep squad.
Jamie: Drama queen. What if they're church people or something?
Julie: Yeah, ok, if you say so.
Lights dim. Carolers voices get louder.
Scene 2: Spreading Christmas Cheer
Outside, snow is falling and the sky is growing dark.
Caroler 1: (shivering) Should we call it a night?
Caroler 2: No, let's try one more.
Caroler 3: I vote to throw in the towel. We've been out here for an hour and a half now, and not one door has opened.
Caroler 1: Nor one porch light lit.
Caroler 4: Yeah, I'm willing to call it a night. My feet are frozen, and that last house even turned off some lights.
Caroler 2: Come on guys. How can we spread this Christmas Cheer, if you all aren't willing to keep going, even when it gets tough? We said we would do this rain or snow. We wanted to bring some spirit back into this little town. And by golly, that's just what we're going to do.
Caroler 4: Aw, give it up. It's hopeless!
Caroler 3: Let's face it, Christmas cheer is gone from this town. It left with that crazy (lowers voice) coop killer, last year.
Caroler 1: Shhh...we promised never to speak of that. Shhh
Caroler 2: Come on guys, one more house and I'll give in. Ok?
Caroler 4: Promise? Then we go back to my house for some
