When was the last time you felt in danger when traveling at night all alone? Maybe years ago or, probably you haven't ever gone out at night alone. When face to face with these situations it is always good to have a German shepherd by your side walking calmly with you. German shepherds are dogs with a protective and loyal nature. They are one of the most popular breed of dog in the world today because of its many great features.
German shepherds are a large breed of dog. They have an arched forehead, a long square-cut muzzle and a black nose. The jaws are powerful, and have a scissor-like bite. The eyes are medium-sized and chocolate with a vigorous, clever, and self-assured look. The ears are big and stand upright, open at the front and corresponding, but they frequently are pulled back during movement. They have a long neck, which is raised when thrilled and lowered when moving at a quick speed. The tail is thick and bushy.
German Shepherds can be found in an assortment of colors, the most common varieties are the tan and black and red and black varieties. Both varieties have black masks and saddles. Rarer variations include the sable, all black, and all white, liver and blue varieties.
Shepherds were bred specially for their intelligence,an attribute for which they are now well-known for. They are thought to be the third most intelligent breed of dog in the world, behindBorder Colliesand Poodles.
German Shepherds are extremely lively dogs, and described in breed standards as confident. The breed is marked by an eagerness to learn and an eagerness to have a purpose. Shepherds have a devoted nature and bond well with people they know. However, they can become over-protective of their family and territory, mainly if not socialized properly. An unfriendly temperament makes them approachable, but not inclined to become instant friends with strangers.

German shepherds make great pets and do anything to protect their owner. German shepherds are great guard dogs and are used as police dogs because of their loyal and protective nature.
