Poetry: Being trapped

by Marshall Brown

Anxiety

This darkness surrounding me,

Filling my soul,

Blocking me from feeling free,

Anxiety begins to grow.

Outside the world is waiting,

For me to open my door,

All the while I'm debating,

Fear filling me to the core.

Anger at my solitude,

Frustrated with invisible bars,

Constant, are my eyes glued,

To the window, passing cars.

This battle is draining,

As I slump into my chair,

Success in me is straining,

But here, I can breathe the air.
