How to control a car in a skid

and the other people on the roads, as they will not lose traction nearly as easily as all-season tires will.

Snow tires are now even required by law in the Province of Quebec in Canada, from December 15th through to May 15th, with more Provinces and Northern American States soon to follow suit. And, there will be no excuse if you are driving from the Southern States, or Provinces that do not have the winter tire laws in effect; you will be fined for not having proper snow tires on your vehicle during the Winter months. Every once in a while they do make laws that really do help the people from their own stupidity.

Aside from the more popular nights when people with too much alcohol get behind the wheels to drive, like Christmas parties or early in the morning after New Years Eve, winter driving is as dangerous as the experience and intoxication levels of the drivers all around you. Many people, when their car starts to slide from snow or ice on the road, will slam on the brakes hoping that their car will stop. However, hitting the brakes when in a winter condition slide is the exact opposite of what you should do, and will put you into an uncontrollable slide or spin, either into oncoming traffic, or into the ditch or snow bank. And then the inevitable will most likely happen; a vehicle coming up from behind has to swerve to avoid you, putting themselves at the risk of going into a slide, or uncontrollable spin. This is how multi-vehicle highway-closing accidents happen, and, unfortunately, they are almost all avoidable.

All it takes is to drive safe, and drive smart.
