It's a conundrum. You want to get someone a gift for Christmas but they have everything. The clock is ticking and the number of shopping days until Christmas is getting fewer and fewer. Not getting them a gift is not an option. And a gift purchased just for the sake of having a gift for them under the tree will not do. It's time to get creative and fast.
Gift-giving to the person who wants for nothing is challenging but not a lost cause. Typically, this person is someone you know well: father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife. And therein lays the good news. You know them well. Well enough to realize they have all the sporting equipment they could ever want. Well enough to know there isn't room for one more knick-knack in their living room. Well enough to forget about trying to buy them clothes. So what do you get for this person you know so well?
Memories:
Photos, collages and memory boxes are one of the easiest ways to create a personalized gift. Raid your photo albums for pictures of the person in question. Acknowledge their lives with an album from their youth to today. Honor a special bond between them and yourself by combining photos of the two of you and your favorite haunts into a collage. Display their passion for a hobby or their service to a cause with a memory box filled with related pictures and trinkets. Reminding a person of pleasant times is a wonderful gift.
Salute to an Interest:
You know this person well, so you know their special interests. Make a gift of them. Got a bookworm on your list? If they have everything, they are going to have the latest bestseller for certain. Try thrift stores, antique stores and used book stores for a copy of their favorite childhood story. Know their favorite author? Gift them a complete set of their works. Got a music nut? Hunt down old album covers of their favorite bands. Make a CD of their favorite artists and songs. Locate a retro t-shirt from a memorable concert. Flashback to better days gone by is a gift that keeps on giving.
Put it in Writing:
Few people don't like being told why they are loved or appreciated. Write a memoir of your funniest times together. Create a record of a time in their lives when they made a difference to you and others. Put into words exactly why they mean so much to you. Communicating sentiments in writing lets the recipient enjoy the gift all year long.
Something from the heart is the only option when gift-giving to the person who has everything. Fortunately, there is no end to the manner in which these gifts can be created. More than anything else, this type of gift will bring a smile to the face of the person who wants for nothing. The time, thought and creativity put into the gift will be evident. And a better gift couldn't have been bought.
