Why would anyone choose to work for someone else when they can be their own boss? Sure the stresses of self-employment are greater at times, but so what? Working for someone else can be just as stressful, especially when they do things you do not agree with. In my humble opinion, the only way to gain financial independence and freedom is to go the route of self-employment.
So many of us live with the idea that only a select few 'make it' in life and we are not one of those people. Why not? Every one of us should have the drive and desire to be the boss, call the shots, and set our own schedule. What happened to the days when people actually wanted to be successful and financially secure. It has almost become a crime in this country to want to achieve a certain level of wealth. There is no better way to shut down growth in our economy than discourage people from working hard to achieve their dreams.
The only real way to achieve those dreams I believe is self-employment. Sure some people do not make it, but what about those that do succeed? Shouldn't they be the ones we admire and strive to become? Why do we always bring up the negative? Every time someone mentions self-employment other people immediately mentioned friends who have tried it and failed. I have a challenge for you. Next time this comes up in a conversation, mention someone who is successful. Positive thinking is a very powerful thing.
Working for someone else always means you will be stuck making money for someone. Why not make some money for yourself? Be your own boss. Strive to be the best. Who knows, you may be the one hiring people some day. Why not make that a goal? I am tired of so many people throwing in the towel and not wanting something better in life. Sure self-employment is hard, but that is the point. Anything worth having is hard to obtain. Hard work is a lost virtue in our society and I hope it returns soon. We need some good, honest, hard-working people to change the way our society views life.
I am not saying those who work for others are not hard-working and honest. There are many great jobs out there. However, self-employment is the only true way to have freedom from bosses. Sure it is easy to work the 9-5 and call it a day. How boring is that? Where is the excitement in life? I want to be able to retire at 50 and have the financial freedom to give and pay for things for friends and family. I can not obtain this by working for someone else.
