You're My Best Friend
"I can take your tickets here." Said a man in a suit.
After handing the man their tickets, Abigail and her boyfriend Daniel slowly walked into the theatre where they would soon be sitting to watch a performance like no other.
A musical based on a rock band that everyone knew of. Unlike Abigail, Daniel had no idea of what he was in for. Abigail had seen many theatrical performances because this was her major. Daniel on the other hand, this was his first. They were both busy students, in the big city. This was their first night out together alone in a really long time.
As the two waited sitting in their seats, they chatted briefly, as did the rest of the audience.
Anxious is the only word to describe how the audience felt that night just before the opening act. The lights dimmed and music began to burst from every speaker. Everyone could feel the rush through they're bodies, there was no question about that. Abigail and Daniel looked at each other, holding each other's hands they continued to watch the show.
Moment by moment and piece by piece, the performance captivated the audience, the vocals so intense. It captured the attention of all in the theatre, even those who were working. The story line: Unforgettable. There were moments when Abigail could feel shivers up and down her spine, goose bumps on her skin. She turned her head to see if others were feeling the same way, but she didn't know what they were thinking, not even Daniel.
In awe the couple watched each character play their parts as if it were their own lives. Art was unfolding before them. Moments reflecting on rock stars that had passed, who had left their mark in the world, which we now know and live in today.
Abigail held her tears deep within, as a man beside her chuckled.
Abigail thought: "What's so funny? The act? Or the fact that so many of us feel such an emotional attachment to these icons?"
She than smiled, a part of her act to not feel judged by the stranger that sat next to her.
Intermission had come and the lovers went for a small break, speaking of the performance so far.
Abigail: "So what do you think so far?"
Daniel: "It's wicked, it's crazy."
Abigail felt extremely happy to hear that he was enjoying the show so much, as this was her passion.
She spoke of the shivers up and down her spine and Daniel was relieved to hear that he wasn't the only one.
Ironic how two people next to each other could feel the same way and without speaking of it, they wouldn't have been able to
