Calendars for Your Family
A perfect gift for the Holidays is a family calendar. They are quite simple to make, and very handy reminders for upcoming special occasions.
There are many FREE printable calendars to be found in the internet, but they are just basic calendars that you can customize. OR you can create your own calendar by using your Word program.
To start, download a small full year calendar so you have a quick reference to look at for filling in the dates. Second, grab a list of major Holidays for the upcoming year and print that out.
Open your Microsoft Word program or a comparable word program and set up your page. Set the page to one half inch margins top and sides. Hit enter button to go down one space after you have completed your space setting.
DO NOT PUT MONTHS OR DATES INTO THESE NEXT STEPS!
Next is to create a single table - one box that fits the page -left to right. This is where you will put the month and year.
Put your cursor below this box and create a second table seven boxes wide and six deep. This is where you will put days of week and the dates.
Next is to SIZE the table. This is done by using the format and font setting. Put your cursor in the top box right hand click, then go to format and font. For this exercise use Times New Roman, BOLD and 48 as your size.
To get the idea of how this will work, start with just this one page and do the first month of the year.
For the Month, you will want to center the name of the month. For this go under format, paragraph and after highlighting the month hit center.
Start with Days of week. Use abbreviations: Su, Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr and Sa. You may downsize the days of the week to a size 36 and center the days.
For the numbers, fill them in according to the month and use a right hand adjustment under format paragraph.
Go ahead and print out this sample.
To personalize the calendar for your family, let's start with the numbers for your family dates and holidays. Highlight the date by right clicking go to format and change the font to a bold italic and a larger size - 72 will work with Times New Roman.
Below the calendar table you will also put the date and the event. You may need to downsize your font and be sure to leave a space between the calendar and the information you put below it. For example 1st of January might be made into larger italic along with any family birthdays, anniversaries.
TO do a complete yearly calendar do the following:
Leave the year date in the first box and remove the month name.
Leave
