Create a sanctuary in your bedroom

Transformation from a Cluttered and Messy Zone to the Ultimate Tranquil Haven

Has your bedroom become a disaster over the years? This one room can often be overlooked when more prominent areas of our homes need attention. The good news is that your bedroom always has the potential to becoming a sanctuary. You can have one with just a little re-organization, and some dedicated days to work your project through to completion.

Chaos and disorder aren't conducive to a good night's sleep. They're neither calming or restful. Our bedroom totally deserves to be a very special domain. It is meant to be after all, our "retreat" from the world at large. Here are some helpful tips to create a calming atmosphere without busting a budget. Any or all, of the following suggestions, will ensure that peaceful bedroom environment.

• Removing Clutter

Who can unwind in a room full of clutter? Clutter is the biggest eye-sore, so let's get rid of it right up front. This can be achieved so easily and it remains the one really vital point for a make-over such as this. Take a garbage bag, or a larger container if need be, and fill with anything you can see in your bedroom that isn't offering positive vibes. This means anything that isn't serving any real purpose. The less of incidental items perpetually on display, or left sitting about on bedside tables etc, the more enhanced the overall appearance of your bedroom will become. Serenity is already in sight!

• Walls

Overly bright or harsh wall-colors, wallpapers of the past with intricate patterns etc., can be a touch unsettling to the soul. For an instant calming effect, consider a re-paint on those walls. Pick up a paint color samples from the hardware store, or search online for paint color ideas that appeal. Look towards light to mid hues, maybe creams and taupes, light blues or green hues. There is such a variety of paint tints, you're sure to find one, or many, that really take your eye to decorate with.

• Floors

Floor coverings that are worn or not a color you favor anymore, consider purchasing scatter-rugs to cover the larger areas. These can be in co-ordinating colors to match with your wall paint and will help detract from the original covering. The new rugs will offer a great new look the moment you lay them down.

• Curtains

Curtains and drapes are often exchanged for a multitude of differing window treatments available. By removing dusty or old-fashioned curtains or drapes and replacing with perhaps a
