The number one reason your New Year's Resolution doesn't come true is practice, practice, practice!
Why can't we keep it going? We have the intentions, we have the goals, we have 25 year class reunions, or perhaps your kids are graduating from college or high school. We are scared of success! That is what I think! Many books lay out the foundation of keeping the resolution true by being true to ourselves. What is something that you really, really want? Finding the large rocks, and breaking it down to small rocks. Stephen Covey said it when it takes 21 days to break a habit. One may jokingly say it's easier to break a nail then break a habit.
I also read one time that it takes a lot of preparation to make things come together. Don't let someone's negativity get in your way. Hang around with people that have positive things to say about you, and not negative things. You need to cultivate the seed of positive actions by creating the right environment. Don't be part of the he said/she said game because that is going to bring down your energy. Believe me, it really can! I have extra weight that can speak volumes.
Here is what I plan to do! Set myself some good goals. First of all, I have three kids. That is my motivator. I want to live a long time, and see what kind of life they will live. I want to be able to go on a cruise with my husband when they leave the nest. I want to have a lot of things on my bucket list, and have time to do them. So, guess what, if I don't start watching my weight I will be you guessed it kicking the bucket.
I have a lot of friends, and I want to make more friends. I want to be happy! I want to have a family that is happy. I want to make more money, and stay in the lifestyle that I am accustom to having. I just found out something's about me recently, and I want to be the best that I can. I want to be the cream of the crop. I want a job that is good for me just like the walk. I want to do a job where people can take something good from it! I want to help people make something out of themselves.
So here is my plan for taking care of my health. Working out doesn't have to be tough, it can be a walk around the block or around the mall. Taking my dog for a walk, or taking my music with me to help tighten my abs. Hmm kick boxing looks fun! I saw that on an infomercial the other day. The workout has to be something that will be fun, and going through the motions isn't going to cut it for ANYONE!
Maybe learning how to dance like they do with "Dancing with the Stars "will be your ticket to making your resolution come true. Put it down in words, look at it everyday, put it in your wallet, on your computer terminal, or your night stand. Resolve to make your resolution come true takes time, and practice!
So, why are you sitting down? Get up, and move your feet to a new drum! Because someday your next goal or resolution might be to tango under the stars on a cruise with your guy! I hope you beat the odds! Good-luck! Happy 2009...you are going to be JUST FINE!
