Poetry: Temptation

by Paul Morrow

Created on: December 10, 2008

Temptation, why did you come today,

and decide to stand there in my way?

What indication did I give,

that I seek advice on how to live,

I know my path, why dont you flee?

how does this conflict stir in me?

And there you stand, you hold my eye,

but do you bring joy? or cause me die?

What dare I do? do I need take flight?

how do you blend what's wrong with right?

I taste your sweetness, and yet disdain,

I know your touch can lead to pain.

will you push me off, with just one weak night?

does giving in bring you delight?

Shall I make excuse, and plea insane,

and overlook my loved ones pains?

and so here I stand,

who will prevail?

I walk to Heaven,

but look towards Hell.
