Safety Concerns
1] Car must not move or shift position in any way during the whole process.
Use stoppers, bricks, etc.. to ensure this.
2] Park car as far away from traffic as possible.
3] Make yourself visible to all traffic.
Switch on lights, hazard lights and place reflective triangles even flares.
4] When loosening the nuts, note the force needed to loosen it.
When re-tightening the nuts, use equal or more force and you'll be more or less
confident that the nuts are sufficiently secured till you get to a workshop.
5] Tire under the car is a safety measure in case the jack failed during the
process.
6] Do not stop in a location that puts you at risk. Slowly keep going with hazard
lights on.
7] Other options: use your cell phone, call for help.
