We all have the tendency to want more all the time. It seems as if we measure happiness by so many things other than the one thing that really brings us happiness. Happiness is measured by: the material things we acquire, the people in our lives, and sometimes by the money we have in the bank. Unfortunately, if we use these things as tools to measure whether or not we have happiness, we will often find ourselves in the same place we were, when we began the quest for happiness.
You might asked, "How can my relationship status, financial statements, or material gain be considered as superficial? Shouldn't I be happy about the things I have and people who are in my life? See, in the excitement of these things, you're just dealing with what's on top of the surface. Happiness stems from the deep and things change. It's as simple as this, as time keeps rolling things change, and people change. The marriage that was full of excitement, last year, may be full of disappointments this year, or the bank account that was full last month, might be almost empty this month. So our happiness cannot be based upon the superficial things in life; the things that merely makes the surface look good or be pleasurable.
Here's a little secret to happiness that I'm going to share with you....true happiness is totally based upon your ability to obtain and operate by pure wisdom. Yes! If you really want happiness, get wisdom. With wisdom comes the ability to understand change. It's not about stuff because stuff comes and goes. It's not about people or money because they both come and go, but no one or nothing can take a deeper understanding away from you. When you know something, you know it and that alone can keep you happy. What is the use in having a husband and you don't know how to treat him? Wisdom says, "If you want to have a blissful marriage, you'll operate as a wife who goes out of her way to be the helper that her husband desires." What's the use in having money if you're going to waste it? Wisdom says, "Be a good steward over your finances, if you don't need it, don't buy it."
It's amazing to me how our human instinct by the fruitfulness of our emotions, dictates to us if we should be happy or actually how happy we should be. When in fact, wisdom is neither guided by or obtain through emotions. And wisdom sticks and stays through the rough and tough times and when it's all said and done, you can truly be happy because you were not led away foolishly by emotions, but rather dealt with things through a better understanding. When you look back and observe the things that wisdom have kept you from or out of, then happiness becomes a part of your daily emotional state.
